The Bryston SP3 sets a new high water mark for audio performance in a category dominated by inexpensive receivers that are obsolete after a few short years and never really performed that well to begin with. Theater enthusiasts who put sound quality first will love the SP3's pedigree. The same proprietary discrete operational amplifiers we've designed for our premium 2 channel products are used here. Digital to analog conversion is rendered with bit perfect accuracy, and a host of configuration options and control possibilities are compatible. There may be surround processors that have more or newer features, but you will be very hard pressed to find one that is more enjoyable to use and listen to. Upgrade your theater with the Bryston SP3.

  • The sound quality of the SP3 is simply superb. Bryston has focused on quality and clearly only builds features into their products which they feel add long-term value. If you are looking for a premium processor or considering a preamplifier purchase, I would definitely put the SP3 on the list and visit a Bryston dealer for a listen. (Robert Kozel - Secrets of Home Theater High FidelityRead Review...
  • In the world of no-holds-barred multi-channel audio, the Bryston SP3 is the pre-amp / processor to beat. In essence, the SP3 is three great products in one. It offers the best multi-channel audio I’ve ever heard outside of a top sound mixing studio; it includes 7 outstanding D/A converter channels for multi-channel or stereo digital audio; and it provides outstanding 2-channel stereo performance, essential to any truly great sound product. (David McCallum - The Inner EarRead Review...

    Music in the Round #54 - SP3 Pre-Pro

Posted by Kalman Rubinson - Stereophile 2012/5 on 3rd Jun 2021

For all that, the SP-3 looks like a Bryston and works like a Bryston, while providing all the features—with one exception—that users expect from a modern multichannel pre-pro. Even that exception, room correction or equalization, is consistent with the goal of making the output as accurate to the source as possible. https://www.stereophile.com/content/music-round-54

The combo will absolutely astound and connect you with your music. It will also impress your speakers, especially if they’re hard to drive. I’m going to call the combination a Top Pick. https://www.soundandvision.com/content/bryston-sp3-surround-processor-and-9b-sstsup2-amplifier
