Bill Evans: leader of one of most influential trios in jazz history, invaluable contributor to the model explorations on Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue. Miles said it best: “Bill had this quiet fire that I loved on piano. The way he approached it, the sound he got was like crystal notes or sparkling water cascading down from some clear waterfall.” Claus Ogerman: one of the most prolific 20th century arranger-composers, at home in every style – rock, pop, jazz, classical. Worked with Sinatra, Jobim, 2010 Emmy winner with Diane Krall. Symbiosis: Ogerman’s potent melding of contemporary classical and jazz with NY Philharmonic players, top jazz musicians, and the Bill Evans Trio. Classic Evans in an unusual setting.
Review
"Klaus Ogerman's composition is like a cocktail of different styles, balancing as a result along the seam from jazz to classical, coming across as fascinatingly melodic and at the same time tremendously sophisticated." (LP Magazine, 2/2017)

Excelent!
Those many people who associate Bill Evans only with ‘Peace Peace Peace’ are getting but a fraction of what is on offer. Recordings such as ‘Portrait in Jazz’ and ‘Sunday at the Village Vanguard’ add a whole new and more rewarding experience - as do a host of his other trio recordings around that time. ‘Symbiosis’ is in a different dimension altogether. It is a large modern orchestral work - largely scored - into which Bill Evans weaves his magic. This music will not be for everyone. If you can enjoy and understand 20th century music such as the Berg violin concerto you will enjoy ‘Symbiosis ’. It is a far cry from ‘Portrait in Jazz’ but an equally valuable addition to the Bill Evans marvellous legacy.

A jazz masterpiece!
This is one of my favorite jazz recordings, it is a masterpiece. I don't understand why it doesn't stay in print. It is different from many other Bill Evans' recordings because of course it has all of the orchestration to answer Mr. Evans' brilliant and austere poetry.

Symbiosis
Yet another Evans/Ogerman masterpiece. These two - poets, both. And together they make the kind of musical magic that really doesn't exist anymore. The slow movement is stunning (they used it in the film Sideways), and the rest is just mesmerizing.
