We are pleased to present, Just Like Love, the latest
Opus 3 recording of Eric Bibb.

Since Eric´s breakthrough album on Opus 3, Spirit & The Blues in 1994, and the highly acclaimed follow up album Good Stuff, Sunday Times album of the year 1997 (UK) he has also made two studio CD´s and a live recording on other labels

In addition to extensive tours throughout England, Germany Ireland and the rest of Europe, Eric has in recent years extended his tours to include USA and Canada where his artistry and status as a performer has now established him in the same league as Taj Mahal and Keb Mo – one reviewer going so far as to suggest that they ought to make an album together!
”Just Like Love” differs somewhat from Eric´s earlier Opus 3 recordings in that it has the warmer, more intimate feel of the ”singer songwriter” approach delicately augmented by many of the great musicians of the ”Needed Time” band. The fact that Eric played a major role in writing most of the tracks, apart from a couple of his personal favourite traditionals, has no doubt played a major role in the feeling of the album..

While all of the recordings are very new, having been produced this year, 2000, the inimitable analogue and ”unplugged” Opus 3 recording philosophy remains unchanged!

Another very good album from this exceptional bluesman

Posted by Joe Roberts on 23rd Nov 2021

Eric Bibb's career has been going on for decades now. He left the United States to move to Europe where a faithful audience follows him in concert, and his top-notch albums follow each other without ever really resembling to the last, the excellent double Global Griot, recorded with fantastic West African musicians, among others. In 2000 he recorded Just like love, 17 tracks where we find all his qualities (the deep voice, a quality guitar game, very good musicians surrounding him). This album contains more personal compositions (13 tracks) than covers. His writing talent is great, a real storyteller like there are not so many: here there are 3 absolutely sublime ballads (She's still with me, Forever ago and Prayin') and we oscillate between blues and folk with real pleasure. Don't miss Eric Bibb if you have the opportunity to see him on stage: you'll discover someone rare.

    Good album

This is my opinion only. Overall a good album, well recorded and pressed. Tis I think one of Mr Bibbs better offerings, very laid back and dare I say melodic. Sometimes Mr Bibb gets a bit (and I am a fan) repetitious but this album is ok.
