Great album!
I love the older Weezer music so I was really excited about this new one. At first I felt disappointed for the most part, but after listening to another time it quickly grew on me!

Take the Black on its own merits
I understand both sides on this one. Yes, I love the rockin' Weezer more than the Black Album. But, I have to say this one really crept up on me. Rivers writes such catchy songs it's hard not to really love this release. If you don't like it at first listen-give it more time. I'll pretty much guarantee you'll wind up liking it.

Great album...Funk Rock Weezer!
Weezer never ceases to amaze me. I think what I really like about them is the variation and range of their music that all blossoms from a single core that is undoubtedly Weezer. This album has more funk rock songs than normal. Some songs you might not even know are Weezer, until you listen more. Some sound like they might be pop songs on the top 100 radio but it's Weezer. Funky, poppy, and rocky. The songs are catchy. And the lyrics are great. If you're looking for an album to build some greatest hits from, I think this album is a must have.
