Adam Makowicz's solo album "Live Embers" was reissued by Polskie Nagrania in an exclusive re-edition of the cult series Polish Jazz, known to fans of Polish jazz since the 1960s. The re-edition was prepared with great care, the author of the refreshed sound is an outstanding sound director - Jacek Gawłowski. The discs were pressed with a grammage of 180. Adam Makowicz is the most recognizable Polish jazz pianist in the world. His name and discography are present in most major jazz lexicons and encyclopedias. For years, he has been one of the top musicians who created the Polish jazz scene in the 1950s and 1960s.
Live Embers was released in 1975 as no. 43 in the Polish Jazz series. It was the only fully solo recording of Adam Makowicz that was released in Poland. The album includes seven pieces by Adam Makowicz, incl. "Glowing coals" - 2 versions - are reflective miniatures, forming the frame of the entire album in two similar versions; "Time Yes, Time No" is one of the pianist 's best compositions. The album is complemented by more personal compositions by the pianist, such as "Opalization" and "Ballad for R", which are a kind of interludes, as well as the mysterious "Dancing Panda" and "Passiflora".
The album also features Scott Joplin's standards "Solace" and "Entertainer", played by Makowicz with a bit of deliberate nonchalance and humor, and with swing, which in the following years became Makowicz's main aesthetic postulate. Apart from that, Coltrane's "Countdown" and "Giant Steps" are in fact extremely difficult jazz etudes.
