Live at Alcatraz is the album that launched the collaboration between guitarist Fausto Mesolella and Giulio Cesare Ricci. Fausto Mesolella had just finished a recording made during a live performance held in Umbria at Alcatraz, a fascinating gathering place for musicians, intellectuals, and artists in general. Upon first listening, I was very impressed by Fausto Mesolella's interpretations and performances, so I decided to remaster the recording with my all-analog, tube-based Signoriccci system...and the end result was extraordinary.
The mastering was implemented with an Ampex ATR 102 (Electronic Tube Ampex Model 351-1965), 2 tracks, 1/2 inch, 30fps, modified by David Manley. I personally mastered the vinyl version using the Signoricci analog, tube-based system. The sound is natural. Highlights include Astor Piazzolla's Libertango, Nino Rota's Ai giochi addio, and Capurro and Di Capua's O sole mio.
An album not to be missed!
