It's a collection of pieces that Giulio Cesare Ricci has selected from the finest jazz productions by the legendary David Manley, the Anglo-American engineer world-famous for his natural, tube-based sound.
The heart and soul of every recorded sound is the product of the acoustic properties of the room itself and the microphones used within those acoustics.
David Manley designed the VITAL MUSIC studio in Chino, California, exclusively for "purist" recording techniques. All performances are captured through a Manley "Gold Reference" stereo condenser microphone, directly to 2 stereo tracks.
The recording was done using a Studer C37 with only Manley tube circuits, at 15fps, 1/2" 2 tracks with only tube circuits modified by David Manley, without noise reduction.
To create the SACD, Giulio Cesare Ricci transferred the original analog master to Pyramix using dCS A/D and D/A converters.
Sound, pure and simple... music, powerful and impressive.
The lineups for the various tracks are varied: drums, piano, sax, guitar, bass, percussion, etc.
Giulio Cesare Ricci wanted to celebrate the 35th anniversary of fonè by recalling the productions of David Manley, with whom he had a great friendship and a special and long-lasting technical collaboration.
