This album continues Giulio Cesare Ricci's collaboration with the great conductor Gianandrea Noseda and the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio di Torino.
After Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade Symphonic Suite, it's now the turn of Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony, where, in addition to Gianandrea Noseda and the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Regio di Torino, the names of Regula Muhlemann (soprano soloist), Anna Maria Chiuri (mezzo-soprano soloist), and Claudio Fenoglio (chorus master) are also added.
For this recording, Giulio Cesare Ricci used the legendary original Neumann U47, U48, and M49 tube microphones.
The master was made with the Ampex ATR 102 (Electronic Tube Ampex Model 351-1965), 2 tracks 1/2" at 30fps, modified by David Manley.
The mastering was carried out by Giulio Cesare Ricci using the entirely analog, tube-based Signoricci system.
This is a live recording that preserves all the naturalness, dynamics, and realism of the performance.
A recording made in the natural acoustics of the Teatro Regio in Turin, without sound manipulation, equalization, reverb, compression, or expansion...but a natural sound with authentic timbre.
