Our goal was to render with the utmost clarity the colorful and articulated interpretation that the performer brings to this music, as well as to create a truthful sonic impact of the Tamburini organ in the Sala Scarlatti of Naples, with its more than 4000 pipes. We hope that this intention reaches your ears, transporting you to that authentic moment. This album is a bold journey into the heart of Domenico Scarlatti's music, reinterpreted in a modern key. The multifaceted organist Livia Mazzanti moves away from a purely philological approach to "transmute" the Sonatas, originally intended for the harpsichord, through the powerful and versatile voice of the instrument conceived in the 1980s by Jean Guillou for the Naples Conservatory. In an act of profound admiration and interpretive freedom, Mazzanti explores Scarlatti's most intimate and most grandiose nuances, creating a dialogue between two keyboard virtuosos, equally stateless and experimental. The imperfections of the instrument, currently awaiting restoration, give the sound a poetic and fascinating character, making the recording an unrepeatable testimony to this extraordinary equidistance between past and future, between Neapolitan soul and French genius.
