Classic Metheny
This an earlier classic from the Pat Metheny Group. Although not as refined as the more recent compositions groundwork was being formed. The Metheny/Mays partnership was in its early stages. The poetic flavor that is put into a typical Metheny project with the artistry is present. Any avid listener would recognize the quality that is uniquely Pat Metheny. The album can be heard in its individual tracks. There's an homage to Jaco Pastorius that is more than warranted considering his contributions to earlier works. To listen to it as a whole project will prove Metheny/Mays were yearning towards more significant projects.

Great album by the Pat Metheny Group
Calling this album sophisticated and elegant jazz rock limits how expansive and melodic the music is. This is one of my favorite albums. I opened the cd case I have owned for years and I gasped when there was no disc inside.I had to buy it again. These are four incredible musicians, led by Pat Metheny. Phase Dance, April Wind/April Joy, and Jaco (featuring superb bass by Mark Egan) are the tracks that appeal most to me. Sit back, close your eyes and enjoy.
