This extraordinary disc features the Amadeus Quartet, one of the most appreciated chamber ensembles of the second half of the 20th century, in two of Ludwig van Beethoven's most famous quartets, the Quartet op. 59 n. 1, better known as the “Razumowsky” Quartet, named after the violinist who christened it, and the Quartet op. 131, a visionary masterpiece of the full maturity of the Titan from Bonn. The SHM-SACD (Super High Material SACD) is the most recent and innovative version of SACD, which uses the materials and technologies that were developed for the SHM-CD and then further enhanced for high-resolution media. These discs are produced with a type of polycarbonate designed for liquid crystal display screens. In this way, players can read the signal with greater fidelity, obtaining far greater sonic transparency and greater fluidity, which guarantees more accurate definition. The technology that has already worked miracles with a low-resolution medium like CD, in a high-resolution format like SACD offers a simply astonishing improvement in sound quality.
