Sung in a spirit of worship and prayer, these psalms reflect the faithfulness of God in response to the Psalmist’s pleas. They include “The Lord is my shepherd”, “I lift up mine eyes unto the hills”, and many other familiar words of comfort. The booklet includes meditations on each psalm, making this recording a valuable tool for private devotion.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM
“He Has Heard My Voice, centers upon and celebrates the provision of God. God IS faithful and we can trust in Him. Somber subtlety slowly shifts into certain celebration. These Volumes, although likely not intended for this purpose, are perfect for these smaller congregations as a means for enhancing meditation, worship, catechesis and training. As well, being centered in the Psalter, they are very useful in our private worship by setting the tone for both seasonal considerations and self-reflection. Paraclete Press, rooted as it is within liturgical renewal and reform, has provided us with wonderful resources for personal reflection and congregational renewal.”
The Very Rev. Dr. Donald P. Richmond, Obl.OSB., Forward in Christ
“He Has Heard My Voice ... is part of the choir’s beautifully sung three volume survey of Anglican Psalmody – the second in the series. This ensemble sounds as good as any English cathedral choir – though their characteristic sound is distinctly American, and they are more overtly expressive. As usual, this exceptional group delivers each note and word with radiant sound, plus the kind of spiritual depth and sincerity that eludes all but the best professional choirs.”

It is prayerful, poetic and joyful
The singers of Gloriae Dei Cantores give radiant voice to the words I love so much. This group trained in England in its formative years. . . . ...deep love and understanding of the words is obvious in their singing.

Sterling renditions
These exemplary realizations by this outstanding vocal ensemble are borne out of a depth of experience and insight, significantly informed by the late George Guest of St. John's College, Cambridge. One need not refer to printed texts, due to the crystal clarity of diction and absolute unanimity of rhythm. Sensitivity of text painting, both in the settings and in their interpretations, bring forward subtle meanings of the texts. Organ accompaniments are discreet, supportive, colorful, and imaginative. This production will be appreciated for its value as an ideal model for the performance of Anglican chant, for meditation and spiritual enrichment, and for the beauty of the music as experienced through these sterling renditions.
