Reviews

Mr. Claus Müller from www.audiotapereview.com published a review of this master tape.

"This recording was made amazingly close to reality. You can feel the instruments very close. “Razor sharp” would also be good expression, but somewhat exaggerated. Musicians are in close contact with the room. It sounds like I'm sitting right in front of them. Is that too much of a good thing? I don't think so, I'm just not used to it at home. At a live concert you immediately take this type of detail as normal, so why not to get it also in your room from the recording?"

KLANGKOLLEKTIV WIEN

When the first bars of Schubert ’ s “ Unfinished ” Symphony reached the recording equipment in March of 2018, it wasn ’ t merely the musicians ’ “ daily grind ” but rather the birth of an ensemble : the chamber orchestra KLANGKOLLEKTIV WIEN.
The mission of the KLANGKOLLEKTIV WIEN is to perform the music of the Viennese Classical era with care and love, beyond mere routine. This is why we – musicians from Vienna’s leading orchestras – came together for the first time.
This music, which was at the onset of the development of the modern orchestra – with which we handle a diverse program of works from all different eras every day – becomes ever more an oasis of tranquility through its clear form and inner beauty, the epicenter of our lives as musicians.
Our goal is to give these works the attention they deserve, to communicate their message to listeners. This first document of our common passion came about in collaboration with the conductor Rémy Ballot and the record label Gramola, who were involved in this project’s development from the very beginning.
With deep respect for the greatness of these works by Franz Schubert,

Norbert Täubl - KLANGKOLLEKTIV WIEN

Anyone with a two-track machine will be rewarded for sure. Hardly ever have had reel audio tape recording that is so noise-free and accurately made.

    Wonderful tape edition!

Posted by Claus Müller, Analogue Audio Association, Germany on 16th Apr 2020

Today´s evening was free for the 2nd tape. The Franz Schubert recording is very, very good. All involved persons, started with the orchestra, followed by the recording engineers, did a perfect job. No link of this chain shows weakness. A lot of persons and equipment to manage in this perfect way, this is a really commendable job all did! Positive feedback in our German´s Analogue Audio Association (AAA) magazine “analog” will follow.

SEPEA recording of Schubert performed by Klangkolecktiv Wien

Posted by Frank Brattig on 9th Dec 2019

Lately I found time to listen to the Schubert tapes. Once again a masterpiece of musical and technical excellence. On some parts it made me shiver due to the intensity of the musical performance. Congratulations to all involved, musicians and technicians as well.
