Missa Solemnis Op.123 - Ludwig van Beethoven's most important mass. This recording from 1972 was released in the former GDR by the prestigious classical music label Eterna. Interpreted by Kurt Mazur, the legendary Kapellmeister of the Gewandhausorchestra, it includes contributions from important artists such as Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Annelies Burmeister, Peter Schreier, Hermann Christian Polster and the Rundfunkchor Leipzig. The great composer's humanist ideal has rarely been so convincingly expressed.
The recordings are now available in unprecedented sound quality. The original analogue recordings from 1972 form the basis of Christoph Stickel's unobtrusive "refurbishing" which aims to avoid any artistic intervention. You, the valued listener, will be transported back into the sound engineer's chair at the time of recording.
