For me, “Midnight Mood” is not only the best album by Mark Murphy, but is also on my selection list for the proverbial “Five for the Island”

A great album by a true jazz singer. It's nearly perfect.

    Wow!

Wow, jazz vocals don't get any better than this. Whether joyously wailing an uptempo tune like Jump for Joy, or stepping slowly through a gem of a ballad such as My Ship Has Sailed, it's hard not to mourn the passing of Mark Murphy in 2015. I can't think of any other jazz singer who compares to this lyricism, imaginative jazz phrasing, and a great natural range. I love this album.

The whole album is killer the definition of hipness with our hero backed up by a combo of Germans and American Ex-Pats Like the incredible Sihab Shihab (BS and FL) Listen to the third tune "Why and How" it will blow your hair back
