The Pixies were formed in early 1986. With their combination of sharp guitar riffs, with pop-melodic cleverness, intertwined with male-female harmonies, they became one of the most influential alternative rock bands of the late 80's and first half of the 90's. In hard-to-penetrate texts, they dealt with the universe, religions, sex and pop culture beneath the surface. Their direct, dynamic, short compositions are one of the cornerstones of the independent year of the end of the last millennium.

    Welcome black Mr. Francis.

This is the first Pixies record since Trompe le Minded. Loverling at his most innovative. Francis has a fine cowriter in Paz who wrote one of the Pixiest songs ever, Los Surfer Muertos of her own. I mean it. Joey makes beautiful noises, still. I've seen them in 89 and been a fan ever since. Frank Black doesn't sound like Black Francis and the last two sounded like Mr. Black. Welcome black Mr. Francis.
