New external power supply upgrade for STUDER A80 Master Tape Recorder

We are working permanently to develop SEPEA audio upgrades for STUDER reel tape recorders. Currently we finalize final testing of external power supply upgrade for STUDER A80 Master Tape Recorder machines. After finishing the tests, we will ship upgrades to selected beta testing customers and later if everything go according the plan the product will pop up on our website.

Bellow find description of the upgrade as well notes on upgrade process from the designer Peter Košnár:

External power supply for A80 tape machine is used for powering the audio part only. The original power supply will after the upgrade supply the tape transpot only. This arrangement can improove the sound quality noticeable.

A80RC: Replace the original stabilizer module with the new one.

A80R: Remove the original stabilizer PCB. It is located behind the input and output connector panel. Leave this slot empty. Insert the new stabilizer module next to the oscillator on the right side. This position is originally designed for pilot amplifier.

Connect the external power supply to the new stabilizer module, switch on the power and enjoy the sound.

This upgrade is compatible with following STUDER tape recorder models: A80R, A80RC, A81, B62.
