The unique AIR technology impressively demonstrates what high-end cables can achieve in terms of sound. For entry into this class, the sophisticated AIR technology is now available for the first time in a flat "ribbon" design for self-assembly.

The LS-804 AIR speaker cable has four wires running flat next to each other. The wires in this model are also held in position by specially developed clips and cross-connected at both ends of the speaker cable. In this way, the electrical parameters of capacitance and inductance are finely tuned to each other. The division into several smaller, separate conductors also reduces the skin effect. This is supported by the specially developed Cross Link Super Speed waveguide.

In conjunction with the Air technology, i.e. the "omission" of insulation material, which would "soak up" some of the energy like a sponge, the Reference LS-804 AIR is able to follow very fast impulses. The sophisticated details counteract unwanted electrical effects and make this cable an exceptional loudspeaker connection.

AIR-Ribbon technology

With the so-called air ribbon cable, four wires run flat and not helically next to each other as with the LS-1205, 2405 and 4005 AIR air helix cables. The cores of the LS-804 AIR are also held in position by specially developed clips and cross-connected at both ends of the speaker cable. In this way, the electrical parameters of capacitance and inductance are finely tuned to each other. The division into several smaller, separate conductors also reduces the skin effect. This means that the entire conductor cross-section remains usable even at high transmission frequencies. In conjunction with the Air technology, i.e. the "omission" of insulation material, which would "soak up" part of the energy like a sponge, the Reference LS-804 AIR is already able to follow very fast impulses. The sophisticated details of the Air technology counteract unwanted electrical effects and make it an exceptional loudspeaker cable. The LS-804 AIR harmonizes particularly well with less monumental amplifiers and ensures relaxed music enjoyment.

Electrostatics and capacity

Everyone knows this effect when you take off a sweater with a high synthetic content and it crackles and sparks. The reason for this is that the incorporated synthetic material stores electrical charge, which discharges again. The same thing happens in the dielectric, the insulating material of a cable. It "soaks up" electrical energy like a sponge and then releases it again later. In the case of an audio cable, however, this is part of the audio signal. One measure of this is the cable capacitance, i.e. the unwanted storage capacity of the cable. While capacitors should store energy and have a correspondingly high capacitance, the capacitance of the cable should be as low as possible. It significantly influences the transmission properties due to losses and also leads to interactions with the connected electronics. Air insulation, as realized with Air technology, is therefore ideal as it reduces the capacitance to a minimum.

Cross Link Super Speed waveguide

The conductor material also plays a major role. As with the Air Helix models, the Reference LS-804 AIR consists of high-purity copper wires braided onto a PE core. A wafer-thin layer of lacquer on the wires prevents eddy currents within this conductor and also protects the copper from oxidation. Another sound-relevant advantage is the bifilar structure of the conductors, which is also used in Air-Ribbon technology. It ensures that the magnetic fields generated by the current are partially compensated. This proven design ensures that the conductor behaves neutrally over a particularly wide frequency spectrum.
