Title

LP 1

Johannes Brahms (1833-1897): “Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73”

Side A:

1. Allegro Non Troppo

2. Adagio Non Troppo – L’istesso Tempo, Ma Grazioso

Side B:

1. Allegretto Grazioso (Quasi Andantino) – Presto Ma Non Assai – TempoⅠ

2. Allegro Con Spirito

3. Johannes Brahms: “Academic Festival Overture, Op.80”

This album contains Brahms' “Symphony No. 2” and the “Overture”, which were performed by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Sir John Barbirolli on the occasion of the university celebration. The recording captures the full richness of the music: the brilliant strings, the charming woodwinds, the sonorous Viennese horns and the brass are beautifully balanced and reproduced without any loss of clarity – the result of the exquisite mixing skills of sound engineer Ernst Lohse.

Thanks to the loving remastering, Esoteric's new LP edition, pressed on high-quality 180-gram vinyl (33 RPM), shines with a fresh audiophile brilliance – a must for classical music lovers and fans of the pianist of the century!

Esoteric's reissue of classical music masterpieces has attracted a great deal of attention worldwide. The uncompromising commitment to restoring and editing the original tapes is personally supervised by Mr. Motoaki Ohmachi, founder of Esoteric. Exclusive new mixes of the master tapes are made for the LP versions of the "Masterpiece Collection". To achieve pristine sound quality, the newly developed "Esoteric Mastering System" is used, including the "Master Sound Discrete DAC" and "Master Sound Discrete Clock" from Esoteric, as well as Mexcel cables.
