This album is part of the recordings I made for the 2021 Piaggio Fonè Music Festival concerts. I made this recording at the Piaggio Auditorium located inside the famous Pontedera Museum, the place where Piaggio was born and where it continues to produce today. Inside the Museum, every year, audiences from around the world can admire Piaggio's production over the years, all the Vespa and Ape models, and all the Aprilia, Gilera, and Moto Guzzi motorcycles that have won national and international awards over time. For this recording, I brought all my equipment, both analog (Ampex ATR 102 Electronic Tube Ampex Model 351-1965, 2 tracks, 1/2" 30fps modified by David Manley) and digital (Pyramix Recorder, dCS A/D and D/A converters).
For microphones, I used My original collection of Neumann U47, U48, and M49s, as well as the Signoricci microphone preamp and cables. This is because I have always created two masters for each recording: an analog master for vinyl and a DSD digital master for SuperAudioCD. The master was implemented with an Ampex ATR 102 (Electronic Tube Ampex Model 351-1965), 2 tracks, 1/2", 30fps, modified by David Manley. I mastered the vinyl using the Signoricci analog and tube system.
A cutting-edge system with no sound manipulation, no equalization, no reverb, no compression or expansion... but a natural sound and true timbre to best enhance the acoustics of the Piaggio Museum Auditorium. For this recording, I also used a "field effect" recording technique... all this to allow the listener to relive the live effect in their own hi-fi system, as if they were present at the performance.
This album features G. Mirabassi on clarinet, N. Di Modugno on classical guitar, and P. Balducci on acoustic bass.
What these three artists created was not just a concert, but a truly evocative and evocative journey from the Mediterranean to South America. Among the pieces they performed were "De coração a coração" (Jacob do Bandolim), "En la orilla del mundo" (Martin Rojas - Pablo Milanés), and "Love Theme from I girasoli" (Henry Mancini).
An album not to be missed!
