George Benson's 1976 album “Breezin'” redefined the sound of jazz guitar. With its lightness, melody, and irresistible smoothness, “Breezin'” became the soundtrack of an entire era and the album that made Benson a crossover superstar. With timeless hits such as “This Masquerade” and the sunny title track “Breezin',” Benson's 15th album bridges jazz, pop, and R&B with rare grace. Not only did it top the Billboard jazz album charts, it also reached No. 1 on the pop and R&B charts. It went triple platinum, making it one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time. The album won Grammy Awards for Best Pop Instrumental Performance and Record of the Year for “This Masquerade” and received several nominations, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year – an unprecedented achievement for a jazz guitarist. Now this classic shines brighter than ever, as this edition reveals new facets of warmth, depth, and presence in Benson's silky tone and the characteristic groove of his colleague, rhythm and bass guitarist Phil Upchurch.
