Conceived, recorded, and produced by Giulio Cesare Ricci
I recorded this album at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music in Rome in May 2001.
The star of the show is Maestro Salvatore Accardo, violinist and conductor of the Italian Chamber Orchestra.
Worthy of note is Accardo's violin version of the album's most famous piece, "Adios Nonino," which gives the album its title.
On this piece, Accardo plays with the great pianist Laura Manzini.
The relationship between musician Astor Piazzolla and Salvatore Accardo was one of friendship and great mutual respect.
For this recording, I used the original Neumann U47, U48, and M49 tube microphones and all my equipment: mic preamps, digital preamps, line preamps, Signoricci microphones, and power cables.
For this recording, I also used a "field effect" recording technique, for a natural sound, without the use of equalizers, sound expansion, or compression systems... all this to allow listeners to experience the live effect on their home hi-fi system, as if they were actually there.
An album not to be missed!
