Nina Simone : In Concert - SHM Single Layer SACD

Three unforgettable evenings: “Nina Simone In Concert” was recorded on March 21 and April 1 and 6, 1964, at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Produced by Hal Mooney, the album was released by Philips that same year. The album marked the beginning of Simone's explicitly civil rights-oriented music, in which she integrated messages into her performances. The clearly political song “Mississippi Goddamn” was released as a single. Other tracks such as “Old Jim Crow,” “Go Limp” and “Pirate Jenny,” however, contributed to the political and civil rights message in a more hidden or metaphorical way. Nina Simone, who arranged all the pieces and also played the piano, was accompanied in her performances by Rudy Stevenson (guitar), Lisle Atkinson (bass) and Bobby Hamilton (drums) – a trio that perfectly showcased Simone's incomparable voice! This title is an SHM SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It allows a much better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal's SHM SACDs are generally re-digitized to DSD from the albums' master tapes without any changes. SHM SACDs can be played on any SACD player.
