The absolute protagonist of this album is a special duo composed of Riccardo Zegna on piano and Giampaolo Casati on trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn.
The repertoire includes traditional jazz pieces by Cole Porter, John & Reb Spikes, Billy Strayhorn, Dizzy Gillespie, and Edward Duke Ellington.
The latter wrote the song "Paris Blues," which gives the album its name.
Paris Blues was recorded in February 2015 in the ancient cellar of the Palazzo di Scoto di Semifonte in Certaldo Alto (near Florence).
For this recording, Giulio Cesare Ricci used the legendary and original Neumann U47, U48, and M49 tube microphones.
The master was made with the Ampex ATR 102 (Electronic Tube Ampex Model 351 - 1965) 2-track, 1/2" 30fps recorder modified by David Manley.
The mastering was performed using the Signoricci system, an all-analog, tube-based system.
